Gothenburg (Göteborg), Sweden

I’ve founds quite a few trends when I look through my photos from the various places I’ve been. One of those trends includes skateboarders, as well as skateparks and ramps. From the graffiti to the culture and style, it’s always fascinated me, so no matter where I go, if I see it, I want to capture it.

In Gothenburg, Sweden, I discovered a make-shift skate park beneath the Älvsborg Bridge, and although void of any skaters, it caught my eye. Usually, I don’t bother with a wide angle lens with the skateboarders around, but with the expansive space to ourselves, my cousin, his wife and I wandered through and checked out the graffiti art and bits of broken wood, whether it was from old boards or old ramps. I caught this image of a half pipe in early August of 2011 and I really like the way it turned out with the fish-eye lens.

Dublin

Along my travels, I’ve seen and capture much street art, especially on the island of Ireland, both in the Republic of and the Northern area. In Dublin, I took a photograph of this bit of art and I love the way it turned out, with the sharp detail and stark contrast.

Cambridge

During my most recent visit to the UK, I decided to stop in to visit a friend I had made at a festival in California the year before. She lived in Royston with her son and in nearby Cambridge, I had an experience I will never forget! Take a look at the photo below.Yes, what you’re seeing is correct. The neck of a guitar sticking out of a trash bin. Playing that neck is the arm of a man. A man who is inside the garbage, playing, as well as singing. By far the most original busker I have ever encountered!

Cambridge, England. Busker singing and playing guitar in a trash bin. I was shocked and amazed!

Göteborg

I spent a good portion of my time in Sweden with my cousin and his wife. They are quite possibly the most adorable couple I have ever met! Congratulations to my cousin who is just about graduated! I wish you the best in achieving your dreams.

Bournemouth

During my last couple of days in Europe, I hung out with a guy I met at a festival a month or so prior. Bournemouth is a place renowned for the beach and this photo seems to capture my friend’s personality well.

Belfast

In this photograph, you’ll see the Indian Community Center in Belfast, Northern Ireland. While I was in the city, I was staying with a super rad guy who lived just a few blocks away from this gorgeous building. As you may or may not have realized, I have a thing for architecture!

Berlin

While in Berlin, Germany in the summer of 2011, I stopped to photograph Brandenburg on a couple of occasions. This photograph, however, seems to encompass the right feeling. The huge structure seems to devour the sky and the details of the inner panel are accentuation by the stark contrast. It’s making me miss that German sun!

Stranraer, Scotland

As you may have noticed, I usually don’t include the country in my title, but in this case, it seemed to fit. While traveling, there’s a lot of passing through. Stranraer, Scotand is a town in the southwest of Scotland, right on the coast. I briefly went by the city on my way from Belfast, Ireland to Glasgow, Scotland. There is a ferry, called the Stena Line, which transports passengers from Belfast to Stranraer and from there, I caught a bus to Glasgow. I happened to arrive just in time for a gorgeous sunset, and what with the beautiful weather here at home these days, I’m all about a gorgeous sky!

Dublin

During my visit to Dublin, Ireland in August 2011, I spent a lot of time walking around with the friends I made in the city. One of the beautiful areas that I especially enjoyed was walking along the River Liffey. You may remember a previous shot I posted for March’s photo-essay: Bridges in Fish-eye. https://dailyjaunt.wordpress.com/2012/03/04/day-11-march-4-2012-bridges-in-fish-eye-dublin/

Today, I stumbled across a photo taken of the

The Jeanie Johnston Tall Ship and Famine Museum near the Samuel Beckett Bridge on the River Liffey in Dublin, Ireland in August of 2011.

. The stark contrast of the sky against the masts stuck me, so I thought I would share!

Talgarth

Both times I’ve visited Wales, I was lucky enough to stay with a friend of mine during his time off from university. His parents own a B&B in Talgarth, Wales on the eastern side of the country, bordering England. The quaint bed and breakfast the family runs in the summer time, along with afternoon tea, is always a pleasure! Next time you’re visiting Wales, think Talgarth! www.oldradnorbarn.com/
