London from The Eye

London from The Eye

Of my many trips to London, I’ve only been up on the London Eye once. This photograph was taken in March of 2007 and it remains a favourite of mine taken in the city of London. The haze around the city mixes with the colours of the sky so beautifully that it makes me pause every time I rediscover this picture. Big Ben and the Elizabeth Tower surrounding the bell, as well as all of the Parliament buildings seem to stand out against the rest of the city, along with Westminister Bridge.

I hope you enjoy it. Thanks for stopping by!

Millenium Bridge towards St. Paul’s Cathedral

Millenium Bridge towards St. Paul's Cathedral

I thought I would start 2013 off right with a shot of one of my favourite cities on this planet, London. This was taken in 2011, but I am currently in the planning stages of a trip back to Europe (which usually results in London).

This photograph was taken with a fish-eye lens and it seems to exude a feel of the British city that matches my memory of it. There’s diversity in the people, looming and dramatic clouds as well as astounding architecture as far as the eye can see.

Happy 2013 WordPress! I wish each of you a year that see’s you move forward towards your dreams.

Vehicles – London

For the first 7 days of each month, I like to do a photo-essay with a theme picked by my audience. This month, it will be vehicles. Categorized by city in alphabetical order, the next photo I chose was in London. One of the most typically British vehicle’s found in London would have to be the iconic red double-decker busses. This night-shot taken back in the summer of ’08 takes me back to those bustling streets!

Don’t forget to have your input in June! Vote during the last 7 days of May on any of my last week of posts!

London

For the first 7 days of each month, I like to do a photo-essay with a theme picked by my audience. This month, it will be bridges in fish-eye. Categorized by city in alphabetical order, lastly, we end up London to check out Tower Bridge, as highlighted in Day 2: February 23, 2012: London. This time, it’s a more standard shot of the bridge, but with the twist that fish-eye adds. As I was going through photos to choose the 7 for this week, I contemplated not using this, but the soft lighting for the sun complimented the blue and white sky and bridge so well that I had to. It fits the theme too perfectly!

Don’t forget to have your input on the theme for the month of April! Poll #2 coming March 23rd!

London

March 26th, 2007. It was a rare sunny day in London.

This trip was the first time I went to Europe. It started in Germany, led to Sweden, then England, France, and finally, Italy. Unfortunately, I didn’t keep a journal back then.

I was on this trip with my mom and my brother and we spent the day touring the city, from St. Paul’s Cathedral to the London Eye, Big Ben to Westminster Abbey, The Towers of London, and of course, Tower Bridge.

Starting from the top left: St. Paul's Cathedral, View of Big Ben and the Parliament Buildings from the London Eye, Westminster Abbey and the bottom row is all pictures from the Towers of London.

I figured, if I’m going to use the typical subject, I’ll add a little spice to it. Bascule bridges are found all over the world, but Tower Bridge is among the most well-known. The bascules are raised around 1000 times a year. All you need is 24 hour notice and you, too, can steer your boat down the River Thames at no charge.
